I have a confession… I’m addicted to planning vacations. Even if a vacation is not in the near future, I STILL PLAN. I spend a shameful amount of time on Trip Advisor. I’ve been known to watch videos highlighting the best places to visit in a particular state. My Pinterest board is full of plans. Some realistic and some, well not….We all know I’m not going on an African Safari anytime soon. I can’t say what it is that makes trip planning so relaxing to me. I just love to light a candle, pour a glass of wine, lay out my huge map, and dream. Some of you are blessed with the creative gene. I’m blessed with the dreamers gene. When the notion strikes, I go full steam with it. I keep all my plans in a notebook so when the window of opportunity arises I can easily sift through what I have available. I have an atlas from 2010 that I started to outline our trips in. It’s become a neat keepsake.
When I’m satisfied with a trip that I’ve just planned, it doesn’t stop there.
I then spend a crazy amount of hours “outfitting” everyone in our family. I research the best products that we may need. That’s part of where my dream came from for this online retail store actually. I love seeing a challenge and figuring out how to outfit it… Que cloth diapering when my kids were still in diapers and stumbling across an awesome bag to carry soiled diapers in (first product line to carry on my online store). But, who does that? Who takes their baby camping and sticks with cloth diapering? (Raises hand). However, does it not seem counterproductive to go enjoy the great outdoors while your baby is wearing disposable diapers? I would probably have saved my sanity (and my husbands’) by bringing disposable diapers. Honestly, to each there own!
Please tell me, what’s your relaxing “go to”? Do you enjoy trip planning? Would you rather not know or plan the details and just show up on the start date? Do you let your kids help plan? I’m dying to know!
